Like Ryan said, what most membership owners do get wrong in a membership is often prioritizing the hook and content for sales. But, what people truly want is to simply have supportive like-minded people that they can grow alongside of! Ryan knows them himself from running The One Percent Community!
The community is the greatest service you can offer - and it is also the one thing they will keep them paying you each and every month!
You have to sit down and truly think to yourself, “what do I want, what am I trying to build here?”
For Ryan his name and brand needed to be of a higher authority that encompassed everything he is about.
The word that best embodied was capital!
Every needle in every haystack is owned by somebody.
Every needle in every haystack is owned by somebody - everything is relationship-based. Like Ryan says, you can dig in a haystack or you can just create relationships.
Do not over-prioritize strategy! If Ryan had not built a relationship with the domain owner of capitalism.com, would he have ever gotten it? Slim chance!

Why you should be okay with the negativity.
You have to be okay with the negativity in order to create positivity.
As in our lobster pot analogy here - you can’t change the other lobsters that think they are doing good by dragging you down and safety in numbers. You can’t change your family. You can’t change your community. But you can change yourself which can change your family and community.
If you are okay with the worst thing happening you are free to go pursue the best!

Selling a membership is a weird thing. What does your membership need to look like if you’re going to eventually sell it?
Ryans the #1 most important aspect is to make it ALL about the customer! What does the customer want? What journey is the customer on? What are the customers’ challenges? When you are the face of the business it is easy to make the business about you!
